I went to Oklahoma Research Day on Nov. 4 after a 1.5 hours drive trip. It was held in Lawton by Cameron University. Participants ranged from arts, biology, zoology to math, engineering, and society. Their university is not famous but I have understood their effort to design and organize this event. They have a great package for each person including a folder with a notebook to help you make notes, a booklet stating poster topics which have been categorized by subjects and a binocular telescope! Their provide it maybe because the poster section is held in a large court so you need to use a telescope to look for posters of your interest...
There are some posters with great speakers who can give you informative talks. However, this is not a conference as informative as the annual Drosophila conference or Neurobiology of Drosophila. A lot of posters have little original information or data and the progress is not dramatic enough to form a poster. In addition, speakers may not have professional knowledge about their own research which is not understandable... Maybe this is because it is not a conference concentrated in a specific field. Next time, I would rather save that time to attend a neuromunch or an MCDB journal club...
I found the Nursing College of OU in Cameron University, can you believe that?
